The first collaboration between Tucan Trio and Armandinho took place at "Camelot Jazz Club", Tel-Aviv, in 1999.
The Club has offered the Trio to host a Brazilian musician for the "World Encounters" series. The Mandolin and Guitara-Baiana
legend from Bahia Armando Macedo (Armandinho) was the first choice that proved itself to be very successful.
The combination of Armandinho’s amazing virtuosity with Tucan’s unique sound became a fascinating concert, featuring
music written by Armandinho and Tucan Trio, along with traditional Brazilian tunes of the Chorinho style.
Some months later the "Israel Festival" invited this show to be played at a world-music celebration in Jerusalem.
This collaboration realized itself also in a very successful 2 weeks tour in the US during 2002. (in NY, Boston and the Kennedy center) in Washington DC.
"...Playing Brazilian Chorinhos with Armandinho on the same stage, and being surrounded by his illuminated presence, was a high peek in my musical career and a great honor..."
